My Spectacular Spec :)

Hello people, how are we today?

This post is a bit different from my normal ones as this week will be a little sad for me.

My lovely sister Bex who I call Spec is moving out, I am one of four girls and we are all quite close but Spec and I have always been very close, we were inseparable as kids.
We shared a bed until we were 10, we did have our own beds but whenever our mum woke us up in the morning we were cuddled up in mine.

Spec always looked after me, as you can see from the pictures I had a lazy eye growing up so people made fun of me. Spec was always there to sort them out even though she is a year younger than me, even after the operation to fix it she would make sure no one ever upset me.

As years went by we grew up and did our own thing so we drifted apart a little as it normally happens when you have different friends, jobs etc.

Anyway in the last year we have gotten close again, which is lovely. We went on our road trip to LA, Vegas and San Fran in September 10 and then I moved home in December 10 which gave us lots of time together. Although I am happy for her to have found a great place to live with her friends I can't deny I am going to miss her A LOT!!!

So this is a post in dedication to my Spec, I love you LOADS and I am going to miss you like CRAZY!!!!! I know your going to Kill me four sharing these pictures of us but I don't mind cause they are so cute.

I don't need to be too sad at her moving out because I am sure we'll visit each other LOADS!!!!

For all those who I being driven crazy by the siblings as I type please take a moment to enjoy it, because before you know it your a grown up and you'll be missing those moments.
Ciao for now.

Spongy Shoes and Pretty Dresses.

Hello All,
I hope you are all well, now if you live in the UK you know that this weekend is a day longer, due to the Bank Holiday Monday. YAY!!!
I think I will use the long weekend to do something creative and go for a few walks.

Each evening Mr Rob and I try to go out for a walk for about 20mins, we mostly walk by the canal because it is so quite, pretty and also we can do a complete circle then we are back where we started.

Today we had a stroll l to feed the ducks but they weren't interested so we kept on walking and came to the bridge.
Now I have crossed the bridge many a times as it leads down to my aunts house but I have never noticed the green man carvings on it. They are on almost all the supporting posts, how prettyful are they!

So the dress I am wearing today is one I brought before Christmas, I had seen it in a shop in Portabello Market in October and I just loved it. However I decided not to get it as I didn't need another dress, but then I kept dreaming about it every night for a whole week. I decided to take it as a sign that I had to have it.... which you know it totally was right???

Anyway I went out and brought it but when I tried it on it wouldn't close at the back, I was so disappointed but I brought it anyway in the hope I would soon. Anyway long story short this morning when I put it on and it did I was super excited.

I paired it with my second favorite shoes of the moment, my clogs from Clarks. These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. They feel so spongy and light to walk in even after hours on my feet they still feel great.

It was quite difficult to concentrate when taking the pictures as a rowdy group of men were shouting across the canal at us. They were asking if we were going to take nude pictures, and were flashing their butt cracks at us... LOVELY!!!!

This is the necklace I have been wearing lately, I think it is meant to be worn the other way round but I think it is more interesting this way round.

Speaking of interesting I am off to Emily's exhibition tomorrow, I am so looking forward to it. I hope I'll be able to take some pictures so I can report back.
I have many future posts planned I just have to make the time to write them all, my question to you all is what would you like to see on here?

Anyway that's enough of my jibber jabber for today.

Enjoy the rest of your week.
Ciao for now.

Kat in the Hat

Hello!!!
Happy Saturday to you all :)

So this was my outfit today for my day out shopping in Windsor with my lovely Trish and Nanny Edna.
I was planning on taking some pictures around Windsor but it was so busy and I wasn't able to. I do plan to go back and spend the day playing tourist as there is so much to see. Maybe I could pop around to see the queen for a spot of tea.

So when I got back I asked Mr Rob to take pictures for me as he is my live in photographer for my blog. Although it does allow him to practice with his fancy camera, I think he it takes really nice pictures.

Trying to find nice and quite places to take pictures can be difficult especially when I can be a little shy when people are watching me have my picture taken...believe it or not :)
So today we toddled down to the canal at the bottom of my garden and used the little steps and paths which I thought were actually quite pretty.

I got the hat I am wearing last week and I love it!!! If you didn't know already I am a BIG hat fan, I have over 20 hats and I am always looking for more. The dress I am wearing was actually a birthday present from Trish, isn't it lovely. I was worried it was a little short so I paired it with my black tights and my shiny brogues and that seemed to tone it down a little.

Hat: Urban Outfitters
Cardigan : New Look
Dress: Zara
Tights: M&S
Brogues: Clarks

I hope you have had a great Saturday, the best part is we still have tomorrow.
Ciao for now.

My Blog of The Week - Me and My Polar Bear

So my lovelies, how are we this week?

I've been super busy with work and my dress making class, which I will be telling you all about in a separate post soon.

The weather has been lousy so I haven't had a chance to take any outfit pictures this week but it's only Wednesday and they say the rain is not likely to stick around so hopefully I'll have some to share soon.

Please let me introduce you to Emily of Me and
My Polar Bear which is another of my favorite blogs.

Emily is a girl after my own heart, her 'about me' intro is like she is talking about me except we'll have to add four years to the age (BOO hehehe) and change Accountant to HR Advisor.

Both myself and Emily love baking, dresses, shoes and live in West London.
What I love about her blog is the adventures she has in and around London. One of the things I want to do with this Blog is to share my adventures too, so that others whether from London or around the globe are inspired to do the same in their own fabulous cities.

Here is this super cute map that Emily drew of her favorite places in London. I just love it, not sure I could add anything more.

Also I am totally excited about her new up and coming exhibition and hope to finally meet her.

So why don't you pay Emily a visit :)
Ciao for now.

Super Scrimpers - Waste Not Want Not

Ello People,
How are you?
I just finished watching a new show called Super Scrimpers - Waste Not Want Not, there are some super cool ideas on how to save money by recycling and reusing things.

Some are a little well.... questionable but if you look past those, it is full of lots of useful tips.
Even got Mr Rob to watch it with me, although he watches it because he thinks its hilarious.
I'll have to share one thing he say: "if they got some more younger women to do the show and not just weird looking or old ones maybe more people would watch it" "You should be on it, to which I responded "if they paid me, maybe" hehehe :)

Anyway I thought it was a interesting show so I wanted to share the link, just click the picture and enjoy.
Ciao for now.

My blog of the week - Mrs Amber Apple

Hiya my lovelies,
So one of the things I plan to do on my blog is introduce my readers to the blogs I enjoy following, by having a Muffin's weekly Blog Award.

I was planning to do Muffin's Monthly blog award but there are so many I want to share I thought I would have the feature weekly to start with.

So my pick for this week goes to .....

Now if you haven't had the pleasure of stumbling upon her blog already I would like to introduce you to Mrs Amber Apple. I decided to choose Amber for the first weekly Blog Award for many reasons, here's just a few:

Firstly how can you not love her...look how cute she is :)

She is the most friendly and kind person I have had the pleasure to meet online, even with all the miles between us I feel like we have always been friends.
Her posts are so much fun, and I love spending time reading them. So much so I do my best to not to visit it for a whole week so I can save them up and sit down with a cuppa and have a nice long catch up.

Amber is the only person who loves tea as much as me .

She always takes the time to respond to comments and she is so thoughtful when doing so. I spoke to Amber when I wanted to start a blog but I was little nervous about it, and she always had kind words of encouragement to help me finally bring mine to life.

So this is my opportunity to say thank you Amber for your kind words and never failing kindness. You are totally AWESOME!!! :)

Why don't you pop along and say Howdy.
Ciao for now.

Sunshine and Shiny Shoes

In the words of Sir Bob Geldof (which by the way is the name of my three gold fishes: Bob, Gel & Dof) 'I don't like Mondays"

Don't get me wrong, Mondays have two sides the first is filled with the anticipation of what the week will hold, what adventures will I have, what new things will I learn and making plans for the weekend ahead. But the second is the Monday morning dread, when I open my wardrobe and decided what to wear. I am a HR Advisor for a Charity in central London and even with the more relaxed attitude to work attire I am pondering every morning... is my outfit office friendly? Will I make the wrong impression, will people believe I know what I am talking about?

Now if you know anything of HR we are usually suited and booted, but that's just not me. Clothes are who I am and how I feel I just wouldn't be able to express myself in suits.

Some women look amazing, so confident and self assured but me in a suit, well let me just say you could tell just by looking at me how uncomfortable I am. When I do wear suits, for important meetings or external event's I don't even feel like myself.
I can't wait for the day when I won't even have to think, I'll just wear whatever I like and I am determined while I am working in HR it will not change me and I will not conform for the sake of a job.

So this is what I wore today:

Cardigan: New Look
Vest: My mums cupboard
Skirt: Primark (or Primarni as my friends call it)
Tights: Shoook
Brogues: Clarks

The dress code is smart casual and I wanted to inject some colour once I had put on the skirt and vest so I matched my cardigan and tights to the colour in the parrots and ta dah!!!

Also please let me introduce you to my brogues which are my favorite shoes to wear at the moment, as soon as I saw them in Clarks I new they had to be mine. I was like a crow to foil, they were just so shiny and new.

Then I went shopping with my aunt and she just so happened to have a 20% off voucher, so it would have just been rude not to get them :)

What influences you when your choosing your outfit of the day?
Ciao for now.

And it begins.

Hi there,
So this is the first of many posts for my blog.
I thought I would do a short intro about me, what I have planned for this blog and basically a good old-fashioned Hello.
As my profile says I am a born and bred Londoner, I am an avid follower of all different kinds of blogs, I love tea, (seriously I have about 12 cups a day), baking and I love sewing. Clothes are my addiction, I love putting outfits together, I buy most of my clothes from second hand shops and reconstruct them to make them work for me. I love shopping in London especially Portobello Market as there is always something different or outfit inspirations. I plan to use this blog to share all the things I love and to connect to like-minded people. So welcome to Muffin Top Vintage and I hope to see you again soon.

Ciao for now.
